Choose You This Day

cs_lewisI do not think that all who choose wrong roads perish; but their rescue consists in being put back on the right road. A wrong sum can be put right: but only by going back till you find the error and working it afresh from that point, never by simply going on. Evil can be undone, but it cannot ‘develop’ into good. Time does not heal it. If we insist on keeping Hell we shall not see Heaven: if we accept Heaven we shall not be able to retain even the smallest and most intimate souvenirs of Hell.

~C.S. Lewis

How many times can you sin after you become a Christian? You can sin as many as you want to.  You see, when you really become a Christian, your ‘want to’ changes.  Becoming a Christian does not mean you will live a perfect life.  It means you have given yourself to God, and you have chosen to love Him with all of your heart, and all of your soul, and all of your strength, and all of your mind.

When I was a boy and my dad would catch me doing something wrong, I would quickly say “I’m sorry.”  My wise dad would always reply “Are you really sorry or just sorry you got caught?”  I learned a lot of lessons the hard way, but in time what changed me the most was not wanting to disappoint him.

Joshua 24:15

And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD,
choose you this day whom you will serve;
whether the gods which your fathers served
that were on the other side of the flood,
or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell:
but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.
