Ὁ δ’ ἀνεξέταστος βίος οὐ βιωτὸς ἀνθρώπῳ

~Socrates, from Plato’s “The Apology

Have you ever caught a glimpse of yourself in the mirror when you weren’t ready? You know what I mean. We prepare ourselves to look in the mirror. We suck it in, hold it up and turn at just the right angle. We do our best to see a reflection of what we want to be rather than what we are.

Might as well laugh!

We know that improvement begins with honesty, but less obvious is that the real secret is not self-criticism. We are all expert at that! When you invite Jesus into your life He restores the image of God that was your original design. Through the indwelling power of the Holy Spirit your life can soar with fresh wings and unknowable power. You are a child of God.

Now look again.

2 Corinthians 13:5
